Does anyone own a dehumidifier that we could borrow?  Our dishwasher flooded and now we have some warping on our wood floor.....so sad.  :(  Please let me know if you own anything of the sort.

Happy Holidays!!!

Hey ladies Happy Holidays! I just wanted to put the idea out there for anyone who wants one for there home or anyone who is looking for that perfect gift for someone. My sister is a rep for Scentsy. Which if you have not heard of, they are awesome. They are scented flameless candles. They are adorable and the scents rock! I love pumpkin roll it is my favorite for around the holidays. The lights that melt the wax don't get hot enough to burn. So I don't worry about Katelin or Isaac getting burned by it. By the crazy chance that they would be touching it. Soup Night

Thanks everyone who came last month for Asian Food Night! You guys never seem to disappoint with awesome food!

Plymouth Apple Orchard 9/20/12 @1pm

Since I'm pretty confident that I'm not having a baby on Thursday (my due date), I need something to look forward to. How about we go to the Plymouth Apple Orchard. Plymouth Orchards Cider Mill is located on the north side of Warren road, 2 miles south of M-14, between Gotfredson and Napier roads in Plymouth. Let's meet at 1pm. Its supposed to not be very crowded because its not October yet. Let me know if the time doesn't work well for you. We could always go on Friday morning. (I'm probably not having a baby then either.) Food Club this Wednesday!

Just a reminder that Food Club is meeting this Wednesday, Sept 12th at 7pm at Jenny Salmon's house (4110 Brighton Lane, Canton). If you haven't come in the past, what we do is pick a theme for the night, everyone bring something to share, and we sit around eating and chatting! Doesn't get better, right?! Basically a girls night with good food :)

This month is going to be an Asian food night!  It's always lots of fun, so bring your favorite dish and we'll see you there!

Plymouth Splash Pad on Friday - Aug. 31st

Food Club Night

So last month was our Pie Night and it was such a fun night with SO many delicious pies! I'm pretty sure we all ate about 8000 calories in an hour. Dave was our judge and he had such a hard time deciding the winner, but in the end he chose Mindy's apple pie. So if you need an apple pie recipe she is the one to ask! Thanks Mindy and all who brought those awesome pies! Next month we are going to have an Asian food night on Wednesday September 12th at 7pm at Jenny Salmon's house. Plymouth - Music in the Park

Learn to Skate

I decided that my kids need to learn to skate. I'm too cheap to sign up for lessons. (Lessons are $40 for 5 sessions of 45 mins. if anyone is interested.) So I'm taking them to Westland's Skateland every Friday this month. (I'm hoping that does the trick.) If you'd like to join us its from 1:30-4pm Admission is $4 and skate rental is $1.50. Tiny Tot Olympics

Tomorrow, Friday the 3rd from 10-11:30am, is the annual Tiny Tot Olympics. Its $3 for kids age 2-6 and they do a series of Games-inspired activities complimented by a live DJ and gold medal prize.

It's at the Heritage Park Amphitheater.

sports for kids

I am wondering if anyone has any additional information/clarification about how the youth sports works around here. A few questions...
Is everything basically channeled through Leisure Services? Are they the "Parks & Recreation" chapter of Canton?
During the school year do the schools or districts offer sports so that the kids can participate in sports with their peers from school?
Is wrestling offered anywhere?
Is the Canton Soccer Club basically where everyone plays soccer?

Kid Golf discounts

For the month of July, kids (17 and younger) can play a free round of golf at Pheasant Run (in Canton) with a paying adult.  They can also get a free medium bucket of balls at the driving range if they go with a paying adult.

This Friday we are going to have a nontraditional Play Group, meaning that it will not be an official Relief Society-sponsored activity and will be a little further away than usual.  Here are the details:


When:  Friday, July 13th

What:  Come play in the sand and water at the beach.  Bring a picnic and all of your swimming supplies.

Food Club - Pie Night

Just a reminder that Food Club will be this upcoming Tuesday, July 10th at 7:30pm at my house (1675 Dunston Rd, Canton). It is pie night so bring your favorite pie to share!

My husband wanted to add a fun twist to the night. He wants to test every pie and be the judge and pick a winner. He's a pie connoisseur so it's pretty legit. (Or he may or may not be doing this because he loves pie and wants to try them all!) He says there's a prize, not sure what yet though. Hope it's more than a handshake :)

Also the question came up if cheesecake can be included in pie night, and I say absolutely. If cheesecake is a pie it's one of my favorites!

July 13th, Cow Appreciation Day

In honor of the unofficial "Cow Apprecaition Day" July 13th, Chick-fil-a is giving out a free meal to participants completely dressed like a cow.  (Partial costumes get a free entree I believe.)
So, if you are in Rochester or Toledo (visiting the zoo?) that day, be sure to get some cow ears on and check it out.

Free Art Museum Day

Sunday, July 15th, residents of Canton can go to the Detroit Institute of Art for free. (Excludes ticketed exhibits and programs.)  Other towns participating in the "inside out" program can go on other days.   You can go to www.dia.org/insideout for more details.

The DIA currenly has 6 replicas of their paintings in west Canton.  4 are around Heritage Park (Summit, Ampitheater, Library, and Municipal Building) and 2 are further west in Cherry Hill Village (Barlett-Travis house and the Village Theater.)

Alicia's due date is just around the corner and we need to celebrate! Let's meet this Friday, July 6th at 1pm at Emily Anderson's house (42270 Oakland,Canton) to drop off our kiddos. Food Club for July

For Food Club next month I was thinking we would have a pie night! Pie's definitely make me think of summer and there are SO many different kinds - I'll be excited to taste everyone's!

Beginning Swim Lessons

We're going to be doing beginning swimming lessons at Turtle Cove in the Lower Huron Metropark June 18 - June 28th.  If you're looking to do beginning swimming lessons we'd love to have you join us.  It's Monday thru Thursday and is $30 for the session.  You have to sign up in person June 16th.  I have heard good things about lessons here.

Food Club!

I've decided that we need to start a food club! Not sure why we don't have one yet, because one, I love food, which I'm pretty sure you all do too ;), and two, everyone in our ward are fantastic cooks and it can be a great way to share our recipes. So its official, I'm starting it. I'm thinking what we could do is pick a theme for the month, and whoever hosts, can pick the theme. For instance, a soup night, pizza night, Italian night, appetizer/finger food night, dessert night, cafe rio night, etc etc, basically whatever, just as long as it involves FOOD! We then can all bring something and sit there and eat and chat, what we do and love best right?! Maybe play some games if we feel like getting crazy.

We can do this every other month if you want. I'm not sure what time would be best for everyone, but I'm thinking a little later like 7:30 or 8 since we usually want to make sure our husbands are home and kids are hopefully in bed. Whoever hosts can pick the time actually.

So I will start out! I love Mexican food, so lets do a Mexican food theme at my house on Tuesday June 5th at 7:30pm. So get your fam some McDonalds that night and save your appetite and bring your favorite Mexican dish. And if there is already something in the ward going on that night, let me know so I can change the date. Hope everyone can come! Even if you aren't able to get something made that night, come anyway because I'm sure there will be more than enough!

Free Springtime Movies

Emagine theater in Canton (The older one west of the freeway) has free kid movies Saturdays at 8 and 9 am. I can't remember what the one is this saturday, but the following week is Journey 2: the Mysterious Island (starring the Rock). So if the dad's need somewhere to take the kids while you're at women's conference.....
After that, I think it ends. Boo. Sorry I didn't find out about it earlier.

No Play Group this Friday - March 23rd

There will be no Play Group this Friday, March 23rd, but we will definitely have it in April! Cross your fingers for nice weather!!

Hello Ladies!

We are meeting again for Play Group this Friday at 10 AM. We plan on meeting at the church to play in the gym and hopefully this will be the last time it's too cold to be outside (fingers crossed).

Comcast cable tv now has BYUTV! Yay! We can watch conference live on tv now.  I have digital preferred, I'm not sure what other packages it is included in.  It's channel 390.

Hunger Games

Ok ladies who is in??????? We are planning on going to see the movie the week after it comes out. We were thinking Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 8 pm or later. Just let us know if a specific night works better for you. If you want to join Kelsey and me let us know!!!! It will be such a blast!

Good-bye Angie/ Small Purse Club

Angie and her family are leaving us to move to England! So fun and cultural! We will seriously miss having them around. If you want to come to a little good-bye dinner we will be going to Max and Erma's on Tuesday the 21st at 7:30. If you think you might want to go let me know so I can get a reservation. Free Books!

Target is having a story/activity/ FREE BOOK event at the library Thursday, TOMORROW!! (sorry for the late notice) from 7-8 pm. You have to register your 4-9 year old through the Canton Website (or show up and hope someone doesn't make it.)

Play Group!

We are having another playgroup this Friday, February 10th. (The plan is to have them every other Friday at 10 AM). Here are the details:

When: Friday, February 10th
Time: 10 AM
Where: Novi Mall - meet at the childrens' play area by the Sears entrance
What: Come hang out with or without children for as long as you can and maybe squeeze in a little window shopping :)

Gotta get out of the house

Play Group!

This Friday, January 20th, we will have our first official play group for the ward. We will be meeting 1-2 times a month to provide opportunities for us to get together during the week. Please let everyone know about it. This is for anyone and everyone. Here are the details for our first group:

When: Friday, January 20th
Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: At the church (in the gym)
What: An opportunity to let the children run around and play during this cold month. You are welcome to bring toys to play with in the gym, but please NO bikes, scooters, or anything similar that might scratch the gym floor.
